Intent to Implement Form

On February 4, 2016, the State Board of Education approved the policy for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) – Addendum to NC Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities. Local education agencies (LEAs) may adopt the new Policies prior to July 1, 2020, by completing the Intent to Implement document. This document notifies the NC Department of Public Instruction that LEAs will no longer use the discrepancy method, the alternative to discrepancy analysis or the use of a pattern of strengths and weaknesses for determining eligibility for students with Specific Learning Disabilities and will comply with the new SLD policy.
